CAEOP Member Profile - Michelle Poirier
Tell us a little bit about your background: I was hired temporarily for Y2K as a computer programmer to convert the year ... lasted 4 years. When I was laid off, I decided not to continue as a programmer and found a job with the school district. This was 14 years ago.
Special Moments/Memories: Conference at the Queen ... Mary when we had the crazy bus driver racing against a Lamborghin ... hilarious.
How and when did you first get involved with your local affiliate and with CAEOP? Within months with the school district, OM-AEOP found me and got its hooks in me.
What has surprised you most about working with CAEOP and/or your local affiliate? Even though I already have my bachelor’s degree and am done with schooling, I am impressed with the PIP program opportunities.
What might we be surprised to know about you? The fact that I earned my bachelor’s degree while raising five kids surprises most people.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about becoming a member? It is a wonderful opportunity for learning, serving, and meeting great people.
